In this regard, Minister of Finance, Mohamed Maait, said that the recent changes made to the Unified Public Finance Law offer legislative tools that allow Egypt to effectively manage deficit and debt levels in relation to the gross domestic product.
Maait stated that 737 field campaigns involving 50,000 establishments have been conducted in Cairo and other areas revealing a compliance rate of 66% for income tax registration and 49% for value-added tax registration

He added that Egypt will allocate EGP 575 billion for wages, EGP 636 billion for subsidies, grants, and social benefits, with EGP 144 billion reserved for basic food supplies and EGP 154 billion for petroleum product subsidies.
